Previous year’s question papers of JMI M.des
Practising previous year’s question papers and sample papers is an effective way to familiarize yourself with the exam pattern and gain confidence.
As you all know, the Masters of Design program at JMI started in 2021. So, those students who will be selected in 2024, will be part of the fourth batch of the M.Des program. Since it’s a relatively new program, there are only a limited number of previous years’ question papers available so far.
I have the question paper for the 2021 M.Des entrance exam at JMI, and I’ve uploaded it here. You can download and go through it if you’d like. However, it’s important to note that the exam pattern has changed since 2022. I’ve already explained the current exam pattern, the admission process, and how the test is conducted, including the marking scheme and percentage distribution. Please refer to the information I provided earlier, and you’ll understand the format for the question paper.
Unfortunately, I cannot access the question papers for the 2022 and 2023 M.Des entrance exams at Jamia Millia Islamia. These papers are not even uploaded on the JMI website. The reason for this is that the question papers are collected back along with the answer sheets immediately after the exam. As a result, no one has access to those question papers.
Interview and portfolio preparation for JMI M.Des admission
Once you clear the written exam, you will be called for an interview and portfolio evaluation. This stage is crucial as it determines your final selection for the MDes program at JMI University.
During the interview, selected aspirants will showcase their portfolios. Most questions in the interview will be based on your portfolio, so it’s essential to be genuine and confident about your work displayed in the portfolio.
For the portfolio evaluation, select your best design projects and present them as per the guidelines of M.des JMI. Highlight your creativity, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities through your portfolio. Guidelines will be mailed to your registered email ID, once you get selected for the second round, which will be called for an interview.
I’ve also attached my portfolio, which I prepared following the guidelines set by JMI for their M.Des program. It’s important to note that the style and format of this portfolio may not entirely reflect my style or preferences. I created this portfolio specifically to meet the university’s requirements and guidelines.
